Transformed mind

Romans 12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers,by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Conform-to act in accord with the prevailing standards, attitudes, practices, etc., of society or a group.

transform-to change in condition, nature, or character; convert.

Romans 12:1 is a familiar passage but we often fail to realize the importance of taking its advice. Each day is a new day and we must realize how dependent we are on God and how even missing one day of mind renewal has an affect on our day, week, and ultimately our lives. It is tied to the A part of the verse in our life presentation to the Father of what is acceptable which is being loving toward Him in the sacrifice of totally giving ourselves to Him in spirit, body, and soul. It easier said than done but mind renewal shapes the effort. We all know that there is nothing done without there first being a thought and that our minds are the manufacturers of our speech and actions. When we start taking the time at the start of each new day to change the way we think then we can begin walking in the transformation. I pray that we ask God to give us the mind of Christ to help us handle day to day situations so that we can make good, acceptable, and perfect choices.

A good read to accompany this devotional is James 4
