Isaiah 55- 7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. 8 “ For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD 9 “ For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
I look at this passage as a challenge to mankind to elevate our thoughts so that our actions will correspond. God makes it clear that we are nowhere near His capacity of showing mercy and forgiveness (that’s a message within itself). He also illustrates to us that our ways and thoughts are ground level. It is a no brainer to know that our actions are directly sourced from our thoughts. The old adage “An idle mind is a devil’s workshop” is a reflection of the human heart or mind when it is not Christ centered.
James says it best in James 1 .” But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death” It is so vital for us and our destiny by policing our thoughts and doing as Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 bringing every thought into captivity into the obedience of Christ.
Watch your thoughts, they become your words
Watch your words, they become your actions
Watch your actions, they become your habits
Watch your habits, they become your character
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny-Anonymous
