Please sir Please madame, don't feed the baby lion

A friend of mine uses a reference to sin as being a baby lion. It is little and cute when it starts off,we feed its indulgences and then it grows to the point of no control and ultimately devours us. Sin is no joke. Its no laughing matter. So when it wants to be conceived from a thought we must choke the life out of it by applying faith from, through, and by the Word of God. There is nothing on this planet that is worth missing God for. There is no feeling or emotion. There is no cute little lion that is worth us missing out on meeting our Maker and reigning with Christ forever.

Look good on the outside pt 2

Look good on the outside but Part 2

Matthew 23:25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.

Jesus talks about the Pharisees who are simply modern day church folk and describes them as being hypocrites. Hypocrisy as we well know is the act of painting a false representation of what is really going on a person's life. I like to look at the analogy of a black 2012 BMW 745 body with an engine that is blown and a transmission that slips. We look at the car and assume that because it’s a brand new vehicle or because the body is in excellent condition that it’s a desirable car but if we tried to get anywhere in it we’d be disappointed and would very much so need another means of transportation. It is the same when we put on airs for the Lord. We may deceive ourselves as well as others but the Lord sees the heart and eventually others will see the truth because darkness is always exposed by light. Darkness has an expiration date or time and it is when light arrives. The Light of the Lord shines forever bright. Psalms 89:15 Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, LORD.

What looks good on the outside…pt 1

2 Timothy 3:1-5

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away

What looks good on the outside Part 1

The apostle Paul gives a brief description to Timothy of how people will be in the last days and every thing he spoke is evident in the world we live in today. In verse 5 he says something that resonates with the state of some church people. “Having a form of godliness but denying its power”. He says to turn away from these people.

Dictionary.com had many definitions for form but # 4 is the best.

a dummy having the same measurements as a human body, used for fitting or displaying clothing.
It is a reminder of how Jesus describes the Pharisee in Matthew

23:25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee, first cleanse the inside of the cup and dish, that the outside of them may be clean also.

Lets pray to the Lord for an internal cleansing and to reveal to us anything in us that is not like Him. Lord purge us with hyssop and we’ll be clean but if you wash us we’ll be whiter than snow. Psalms 51:7

God is looking out for everybody :)

Matthew 22
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
People may ask does God really love us? God shows His love for us through the greatest commandments. God of course deserves our love for being an awesome and amazing God. He demonstrates to us His love in expecting others to love us like and while they love themselves. If we flip that and love others like and while we love ourselves then we are in essence covering every aspect of our existence on earth. When we fulfill the Law and Prophets through love then Lord is pleased because we also demonstrate we love Him. It is balanced and perfect. It is also easier said than done. The scale of justice is balanced out through love demonstrated to everyone and to loving the Lord our God.
